    Ron is an outspoken passionate advocate for Ballarat and our community. He has a track record of successfully managing, developing and implementing strategic plans within the arts, cultural tourism, retail, hospitality, events, government and media sectors. Ron is also a civil marriage celebrant, a funeral celebrant, and a Justice of the Peace for Victoria.

    Career highlights include; my early years in Melbourne were with various television productions at GTV9, ATV0 and in radio at 3AW, then with Westfield Shopping Centres.

    In Ballarat he spent nine years as a senior manager at the television station BTV 6, owning and operating Porter’s Restaurant and Bar from 1991 to 1995, Director of the Ballarat Begonia Festival from 1997 to 2002, Director of the Eureka Centre from 2002 to 2008, and Manager Arts and Culture at the City of Ballarat from 2008 to 2012.

    Much of his work across the public sector has involved working with volunteers.

    Ron has won many prestigious awards recognising his achievements in the arts, tourism, media and hospitality sectors, including the 1987 TV Week Logie Award for children’s TV program Kids Only, various major tourism awards and the National Centenary Medal for contribution to the Arts and Tourism in 2003.

    In 2012, after 17 years with Ballarat City Council, Ron left to establish his own culture consultancy. He is a civil marriage celebrant, a funeral celebrant, a retired Bail Justice and a Justice of the Peace for Victoria.
