Originally known as 3BBB, we secured our full licence in 1986 and have been broadcasting 24/7 ever since. As the Ballarat Community FM Radio Co-operative Limited, we operate under the Co-operatives Act (1996) and hold a community broadcasting licence under the Broadcast Services Act (1992).

A major all-day celebration was held on 7 February 2026 at The Main Bar in Ballarat.
The event featured a massive lineup of local performers, including Geoff Achison, The Pearlies, Donna Fisk, and Highway 8 and many more acts celebrating the start of the station’s 40th year.

3BBB to Voice FM a community legacy
The journey of 99.9 Voice FM began in 1982 when a passionate group of Ballarat locals formed the Ballarat Community FM Radio Co-operative. Operating under the call sign 3BBB-FM, the station was born from a desire to provide a genuine alternative to commercial airwaves and a platform for voices often ignored by mainstream media. After years of experimental broadcasts and volunteer dedication, the station officially secured its full-time licence on 1 May 1986. The landmark moment occurred at 7:00 AM when the first official broadcast launched from its original studios, marking the start of over four decades of independent, volunteer-powered radio for the Ballarat community.
